Mount Saint Mary College is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts college, located in Newburgh, which is a city in Orange County, in the US state of New York, with a population of more than 28 000 inhabitants, according to the 2009 census.
The college was established in 1960 and was founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic. It first started as a Normal and Teacher Training School for the members of the religious community, but, in 1959, it started to accept lay students (who were not in the clergy).
The Mount, as the college is also referred to sometimes, offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, including master's degrees in education, business, and nursing, and collaboration programs, which offers students the chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College.
The Mount's athletic teams are nicknamed the Knights and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive color is blue.
